A Message to Garcia and Thirteen Other Things
by Elbert Hubbard, 1901
This book measures 8 3/4" x 5 1/2" and
has 166 pages. The text body is set in Old Style Antique and printed on on
Boxmoor paper. The regular edition of this book was bound in paper over boards
or full suede. Interestingly, the regular edition bound in full suede is not
listed in McKenna. There is also an edition bound in paper over boards with a
suede spine that is not listed in McKenna. Additionally, an edition of 450 copies had facsimile pages of the
original manuscript inserted in the book, was hand illumined, and bound in full
suede with a wallet edge. There was an edition of 50 printed on Imperial Japan
Vellum, hand illumined and bound in 3/4 leather and marble board. There were
other special order bindings available and I believe it was also bound in full
Levant.
The regular edition of A Message to Garcia above is listed in the 1901
and 1902 catalogs for $2.00
